work

I'm not sure where or how to start this post as so much has happened in the past couple of weeks. I don't really go in to detail about my job on my blog as it's never been important to me to share what i do (and i would hate to bore my readers!) But I will for this post, as i need to get a few thing off my chest.

So here goes...(please feel free to scroll down and ignore me)

I work (ed) for the BBC and have done on and off for the past 4 years. I work in t.v production and for the most part i love it. It gives me a chance to be creative, meet amazing people and sometimes work on location. Last year the industry took a really bad hit and a lot of people lost their jobs. I'm freelance so have never been full time and get to chose my contracts which can have its ups and downs. But with nothing being commissioned last year i spent a lot of time unemployed.
That was until i got this fantastic job working on a children's programme that mixes wildlife with art.
I have been so lucky to get to go away with the programme and have been working with people i now consider as my closest friends. (It's hard not to feel like a family when you spend so much time away from home with each other.)

This week we hit the half way mark, when we get called in to a meeting to say that the show has been put on halt. This means that we have all lost our jobs! we were all due to finish in October, so this came as a real shock to us all.(I'm only really going in to detail about the show as it will probably never be transmitted on t.v.) Apart from being in complete shock, I'm also devastated that i will no longer be working with such a great team and that we will never be able to finish what we started. I loved working on the show and i really thought it would be successful once it was completed. We had so many more brilliant animals, locations and artists to see, and I'm truly sad that we wont be able to anymore.

So now with nothing on the horizon and no idea what will happen to my contract. I'm feeling a little lost. I had the next 3 months planned and holidays booked which i will no longer be able to afford to take. I hope i don't sound ungrateful as i know just how lucky i have been to go to these amazing places. It's just i never really wanted it to end.

anyway enough of the rant. I'm so sorry to you readers to bore you with the details. and here are a few photos as promised from Exmoor, Somerset and the Isles of Skye.

we were in Exmoor filming wild ponies on the moors. They have a round up twice a year to check on the fouls. It was such an amazing experience to see. The ponies are such beautiful animals.
And exmoor is truly the most stunning countryside i have ever seen.

After Exmoor i spent 2 weeks in the isles of Skye.

Isles of Skye has to be one of the most beautiful places i have ever visited. The people are friendly and the views incredible We drove there from London, and although it took 13 hours the stunning scenery was well worth the drive.

More photos to come soon. And thank you so much for letting me rant!

The Isles of Scilly

i took a trip to the isles of scilly a couple of weeks back for work, and boy was i blown away by it's beauty.
It was like landing in paradise.
I never realised how close it was before, and so easy to get to.
The flight itself was such a treat, the water so clear it felt like i was on the other side of the world not off the coast of Cornwall!

Once we landed in St Mary's we headed out for lunch.
I filled myself with fresh crab and dranks lots of tea with scones.
Needless to say i was in heaven!

I've just got back from a trip to Exmoor, Somerset and I'm off to The isles of Skye tomorrow.
I can't wait! I'm really enjoying getting to do a road trip around The Uk, sometimes you don't realise what is on your door step.

Lots of photos to come soon.

Lets play catch up...!

wowza, it's been so long! In this time i turned 24 (eekk), G came home from Norway, we took a little trip to the seaside, and I've been away a lot with work.

So lets start with my birthday. It was such a glorious day. I managed to get the day of work and woke up very early and was surprised to find the end of the bed  full of very well wrapped presents. Glen bought me the sweetest gifts and i was honestly shocked that he did so well. I'm not easy to buy for! Later that day we jumped in the car and headed over to Kew (west London) for a picnic with my sister and cutest little nephew. We drank cider, ate a lot of  yummy cake (made by my big sis) snacked on picnic food and laughed a lot at sachi eating.

I can't get enough of this little fella. I mean common look at him!

In the evening i had organised a little gathering in a local pub with close friends. I wasn't sure who was going to turn up, and if i'm honest i really did think many people would show, but it turned in to a bit of a party and  i was blown away by everyones efforts to make my night special.

The pub is called Jolly Butcher's in Stoke Newington (just don't the road from my house). Isn't the decor great?!
I will blog about my seaside trip x 2 soon. As i didn't realise how long this post was getting! I have a day off today so lots of relaxing to do. In fact I'm going to spend most of it in my local bookshop choosing a new book then taking it to my favourite coffee shop and i plan to read it the whole afternoon. I can't wait!

Have a great day, people!

I have a long weekend off work filled with family, friends and reading newspapers in bed
Mr G gets back tomorrow

On another note my wonderful, talented, beautiful and inspiring big sister has just opened a shop selling her stunning photographs.

sunny spring

                                                               {Hamstead Heath pond}

                                     { trees in full bloom around Kew}

Here are some photos of my past week walking around London. The sun has been shining,  and its made everyone has a little spring in their step.
I am soon to be starting a new job, so with this week off i'm making the most of it and enjoying the sunshine with family and friends.
Lots of exciting things have been happening recently.
Glen went away to Norway with work, in fact he's still there. And i really can't wait for him to come back! He's there for 4 weeks, so hopefully in that time he would have taken some amazing photos, which i'll be sure to share here.
I hope it's sunny where you are too!
let's all enjoy it while it lasts!
