Africa!

I can't believe i leave for Uganda in less than two weeks,
argghhh I'm so excited but so anxious too!
I can wait to go back to Africa
{last trip was to Malawi in 2008, you can see here}
and have another adventure with my chica Natalia.
We are both working for the charity Link Community Development for two weeks and then have the third week off to travel around.

This will be such an emotional, yet rewarding experience and i can't really believe how lucky I am to have the opportunity to go.

has anyone been to Uganda before? any tips?

all photos are from my trip to Malawi 2008

a little about moi

I've been working long hours this week and will be for the rest of the month. I've been cranky because of this and I'm so tired i can't think properly.
I feel like I'm working so hard and putting in so much effort and not getting any satisfaction out of it.

but.............
I'm really not sure what i want to do, and that's okay with me. i like not having plans. i find that life never goes the way i expected it to, and as a result it's made me a lot happier.

at the age of 18 i travelled around the world on my own. i met so many wonderful people, that shaped me into the person i am now.

I went to university to study publishing at 19 - i only lasted 3 months. i hated it and i knew it wasn't for me instantly. it took 3 months to get the courage to admit i wasn't happy.

My sister found me work experience in t.v at 19 and I've been working in the industry ever since. it found me, more than i went looking for it. it came at the perfect time.

I met Glen from moving in to a house share with friends from work. We were friends first and then it just happened....... we feel madly in love with each other.

I have always felt that there was something missing in my life which i couldn't explain. not even to myself. i found what was missing when i went to Malawi last year.

I didn't go looking for any of these things to happen, but they did and it's made me the person i am now. i am so grateful for all of these adventures that I've experienced. I am a nicer, brighter, happier person because of it.

when times are hard and i can't face getting out of bed and seeing the world, i have to remind myself what i have achieved, and still can.

happy bits and bobs

Sometimes life can be hard and I can feel down for no reason. I have to remember to put my life in to perspective.
today this made me think of Malawi and what amazing, bright, and happy children i taught there

{look at his face, how could you not fall in love with him!}

Things that made me happy today:
  • talking to my great friend Linzi on the phone for an hour and a half
  • sitting in the park with the beautiful sun shining down
  • wearing flip flops
  • doing yoga for an hour
  • meeting natalia tonight to sit on her roof top and share a bottle of vino
  • looking through old photos

happy weekend

 {photo taken by one of the primary school students in malawi}

Fridays here, woot, woot!

 We’re off to our friend’s wedding tomorrow, and then off to a film screening of Shifty on Sunday. Hopefully we will have lots of lovely photos to share on Monday.

I have had a mixed week this week, some good luck which was then followed by some bad luck - so typical!

But I have a lot of exciting new projects on the arisen.

I will be telling more soon.....

I hope you all have a superb weekend!

I love this one.

        I'm so grateful to have this little one in my life. I can't imagine what my life would be life if we hadn't met in the kitchen at Comic Relief and bonded over lunch ( me- salad and sushi, you - soup)! I can't imagine not having the rest of our lunch breaks together sharing salads and soups ( and the not so healthy galaxy chocolate bar!) and talking about absolute nonsense for an hour. I can't imagine not going to Malawi with you and seeing such poverty, yet meeting the most welcoming, friendly and inspirational people I have ever met. I can't believe Malawi was a year ago! I miss it so much.
       ..........................................................................................................................................................

So with that being said - Thank you Natalia, for taking me to banana house, cheering me up and buying me dinner. and thank you for moving to Stoke Newington and living around the corner from me. I'm not sure what I would do without our meals at ittos, drinks and pizza binges at il bacio.
